Descripción:5-O-Desmethyl omeprazole is a benzimidazole compound that inhibits the production of gastric acid. It binds to the H2 receptor, leading to decreased acid secretion. It has been shown to be clinically relevant in patients who are taking clopidogrel and have been found to have low levels of stomach acid. 5-O-Desmethyl omeprazole has also been shown to inhibit the metabolism of clopidogrel and may increase its effect on platelets. 5-O-Desmethyl omeprazole is metabolized by esterases and glucuronidases, which convert it into inactive metabolites. The drug is eliminated unchanged in urine and feces, with a half life of approximately 1 hour.
