Dibenzothiophene-2-ol is an extracellular metabolite that is produced by the oxidation of sulfides, thiols, or disulfides. It has been shown to have a chromatographic profile that matches that of chromene, which is oxidized by x-ray absorption to give sulfoxide and then hydrolyzed to give dibenzothiophene-2-ol. This heterocycle undergoes oxidation with peroxide or hydrogen peroxide to produce an array of products with different chromatographic profiles.
