Descripción:2,6-Dichloro-4-nitropyridine (2,6-DNP) is a chemical compound that can be used for chemical control of herringbone in textiles. It is applied to the fabric before it enters production, and the effects are minimal. The 2,6-DNP treatment causes a shift in the orientation of the textile’s structure from herringbone to parallel. Quantification of the asymmetry provides an accurate measure of this shift. This shift is caused by changes in the coplanarity and crystal structure at different pH levels. A correlation between time-dependent shifts and logistic regression has been observed. Nitro groups are found on 2,6-DNP molecules that have been oxidized to form nitroso molecules. These nitroso groups can be reduced back to nitro groups by sodium dithionite or hydrogen peroxide.
