4,5-Dihydro-1-benzoazepin-2(3H)-one is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of pharmaceutical formulations. It is a potent inhibitor of lipoxygenase and has been shown to be effective in reducing inflammation in the skin. The compound inhibits the production of leukotrienes by blocking their synthesis at the step of arachidonic acid oxidation. 4,5-Dihydro-1-benzoazepin-2(3H)-one also prevents platelet aggregation and is used as an anticoagulant agent. This synthetic compound binds to tyrosine kinases, inhibiting cell proliferation, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis and DNA replication.
