4,4'-Dithiobisbenzoic acid dimethyl ester is a luminescent compound that produces yellow-orange light when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. The chemical structure of this compound consists of a benzene ring attached to two sulfonic acid groups. The molecular weight of the compound is 284.4 g/mol and its melting point is between 176-178 degrees Celsius. 4,4'-Dithiobisbenzoic acid dimethyl ester is soluble in acetone and has a pale yellow color. It forms microcrystals when dissolved in water or alcohol and can be used as a sensor for metal ions in coordination with difluoride ion. This polymer can be used as an organic polymer in lamellar structures, which are long chains of molecules with alternating layers that are parallel to each other.
