Descripción

Mitoxantrone is an anthraquinone derivative that inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to single-stranded RNA. It has been shown to have efficacy in the treatment of many cancers, including leukemia and melanoma. Mitoxantrone is used in combination with other drugs, such as low-dose cyclophosphamide and sodium glycocholate, for systemic chemotherapy. The hydration method should be used with mitoxantrone because it can cause severe nausea and vomiting. Mitoxantrone binds to the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) enzyme and inhibits its activity, which leads to a decrease in the production of DNA. This drug also inhibits drug efflux from cancer cells.
