Dde-lys(Fmoc)-OH is a synthetic nucleobase that is used to develop new biomolecules. It can be synthesized in two steps from lysine and Fmoc-protected diaminoethane. Dde-lys(Fmoc)-OH has been shown to have antiviral properties, inhibiting the replication of influenza virus in primary cells. Dde-lys(Fmoc)-OH also inhibits the uptake of Streptavidin by mcf-7 cells, which leads to an increased sensitivity to Toll-like receptor ligands such as LPS. The incorporation of this nucleobase into peptides and proteins may lead to new therapeutics for cancer treatment or viral infection.
