Descripción:5,5-Dibromobarbituric acid is a chemical cross-linker that is used to immobilize proteins and cells. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of ovary function, reducing fertility, and inhibiting cancer cell growth. The use of this chemical in cell culture has been shown to reduce the production of reactive oxygen species and improve metabolic disorders. 5,5-Dibromobarbituric acid is also used as a palladium complex for crosslinking agents in organic synthesis. This compound can be synthesized from methyl ketones with divalent hydrocarbons such as ethylene oxide or propylene oxide. 5,5-Dibromobarbituric acid forms hydrogen bonding interactions with the metal surface.
