4-Diphenylaminophenylboronic acid is a photophysical and optical material that absorbs light in the red region of the spectrum. It is used as a fluorescent probe for detecting hydrogen bonding interactions, such as those found in DNA and RNA. 4-Diphenylaminophenylboronic acid has been shown to be a good acceptor for electron transfer reactions, and it has also been used to generate fluorescence emission from polymers. The low detection efficiencies of this material make it a good candidate for improving the sensitivity of certain analytical techniques. This material can also be used to detect halides such as chloride and bromide ions, which are present in many biological samples.
