Divinyl sulfone is a reactive chemical that can be used to cross-link proteins and other biomolecules. It is typically used in vitro to study the reaction mechanism of biological systems. Divinyl sulfone has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in vitro, which may be due to its ability to form a disulfide bond with cellular proteins. This chemical is unstable in the presence of oxygen and light, so it must be stored under nitrogen or argon gas.
