Descripción

Dextropropoxyphene is a synthetic opioid analgesic that is used in the treatment of mild to moderate pain. It is a prodrug which undergoes first-pass metabolism, and has an inhibitory effect on neural growth factors. Dextropropoxyphene also has some hallucinogenic effects and may be used as a recreational drug. Dextropropoxyphene can be detected in urine samples by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The clinical relevance of dextropropoxyphene is not fully understood, but it has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on inflammation and trigeminal neuralgia. Clinical studies have shown that dextropropoxyphene can cause drug reactions, some of which are serious or life-threatening.
