2,6-Dibromoaniline is a brominated derivative of aniline that is used as a building block in the synthesis of various organic compounds. It is an efficient method for the production of substituted pyridines and quinolines. 2,6-Dibromoaniline inhibits the function of HIV-1 protease and other enzyme inhibitors related to viral replication. It has been shown to be effective against hepatitis B virus and influenza A virus type 1 (H1N1) in experimental models. 2,6-Dibromoaniline also prevents the formation of DNA from RNA by inhibiting the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase.
