1,4-Dihydrazinophthalazine sulfate is a calcium pantothenate analog that was developed as a potential treatment for kidney fibrosis. It has been shown to have low potency and genotoxic activity. 1,4-Dihydrazinophthalazine sulfate inhibits the release of growth factors from the kidneys, which leads to the reduction of proteinuria. This compound has also been shown to be effective in treating congestive heart failure by reducing blood pressure and improving cardiac function. 1,4-Dihydrazinophthalazine sulfate is not active in experimental models for cancer or HIV infection.
