Diphenyl disulfide is a chemical compound that is synthesized by the reaction of diphenyl with hydrochloric acid, followed by the addition of aryl halides. The reaction mechanism for this process involves hydrogen bonding interactions and hydroxyl group reactions. Disulfides are also formed in the synthesis of other chemicals, such as thiophene and benzene.
