3,5-Dimethyl-4-iodopyrzole is a pyrazole derivative that is used as an additive. It has been shown to have a supramolecular architecture and efficient method of hydrogen bonding. 3,5-Dimethyl-4-iodopyrzole has also been found in x-ray crystal structures with cisplatin. The molecule has a pyrazole ring with the methyl group on the 4 position and the iodine at the 5 position. 3,5-Dimethyl-4-iodopyrzole reacts with copper chloride to form a cisplatin complex. The complex structure is formed by two molecules of cisplatin linked head to tail by an amide bond. This complex can be used as a starting point for synthesizing new drugs that are less toxic than cisplatin.
