Di(thien-2-yl)dimethylsilane is a red shift reagent that produces diffraction in the visible region. The wavelength of the light is shifted to a longer wavelength, which can be seen as a red color. Di(thien-2-yl)dimethylsilane has been shown to have significant effects on the frequencies at which it interacts with other molecules, such as ultraviolet (uv) absorption and steady-state fluorescence. This compound also shows significant effects on the vibrations of organic molecules, including uv absorption and steady-state fluorescence. The crystal x-ray diffraction pattern of di(thien-2-yl)dimethylsilane has been observed to show peaks at 2θ = 16°, 20°, and 28°. Di(thien-2-yl)dimethylsilane is also used in electrochemical polymerization due to its silylmethyl groups. This compound is soluble in diethylether
