3,5-Diiodo-2-methyl benzoic acid methyl ester is a radioactive compound that is used in radiotherapy. It is a radionuclide which emits beta particles and has a half-life of approximately 10 hours. 3,5-Diiodo-2-methyl benzoic acid methyl ester is detectable by autoradiography as it replicates and accumulates in the targeted cells. This drug can be introduced into the body using different strategies, such as intravenously or intraperitoneally. The drug also binds to DNA and inhibits protein synthesis in the targeted cells, causing cell death.
