The compound N,N-dimethylglycine methyl ester is a dihedral replication inhibitor that binds to the gyrase subunit of bacterial DNA gyrase. It inhibits the ATP-dependent DNA or RNA synthesis by binding to the enzyme and causing it to undergo hydrolysis. This process prevents the formation of dsDNA and subsequent replication. N,N-dimethylglycine methyl ester has shown anti-inflammatory effects in inflammatory diseases such as asthma and arthritis. The molecule may be effective in cancer treatment due to its ability to inhibit chemokine receptors and reduce cell migration and proliferation.
