It has been used in the treatment of bladder and prostate hypertrophy as well as inflammatory diseases. 2,4-Diiodopyrimidine has also been found to be effective in treating autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. This drug can be used for the prevention or treatment of hyperproliferative disorders such as cancer. 2,4-Diiodopyrimidine is an element analysis reagent that is used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of phosphorous. It fluoresces orange under ultraviolet light and is supplied in powder form.
