Decahydronaphthalene is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of aromatic hydrocarbons. It has been shown to be toxic for laboratory animals, and can cause various diseases in humans through chronic exposure. Decahydronaphthalene is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceutical preparations, such as anticonvulsants and antipyretics. Decahydronaphthalene has been shown to have antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to donate hydroxyl groups and act as a scavenger of reactive oxygen species. Furthermore, decahydronaphthalene is metabolized by cytochrome P-450 enzymes in the cell cytoplasm, forming cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol.
