2,2-Diphenylethylamine is a protonated amine that is a functional group in organic chemistry. It has a redox potential of -0.95 V, and the hydroxyl group on the phenyl ring makes it soluble in water. 2,2-Diphenylethylamine can be used as a stopper for alcohols or ketones to prevent oxidation of these compounds.
