Descripción:1,3-Dioxacyclopentane is a cationic polymerization agent that has been used in the synthesis of polymers. It has been shown to be an effective antiviral agent that is active against HIV infection in vitro. 1,3-Dioxacyclopentane is also known to have a high degree of chemical stability and low viscosity. This compound is able to form a stable complex with phosphotungstic acid and can penetrate into cells such as Caco-2 cells. The mechanism of action involves the nucleophilic attack by the chlorine atom on the carbon atom adjacent to the ether linkage in diphenyl ethers, which are converted into chloroformates.
