Dimethyloctylazaniumylpropane-1-sulfonate is a fatty acid that is soluble in water. It can be used in the preparation of samples for analysis. Dimethyloctylazaniumylpropane-1-sulfonate is also an anti-fungal agent and has been shown to inhibit the growth of yeast cells and other fungi. The affinity constants of dimethyloctylazaniumylpropane-1-sulfonate are pH dependent, with higher affinity at acidic pH and lower affinity at alkaline pH. This chemical has been shown to react with adenine nucleotide, which is found in DNA, RNA, and ATP molecules, as well as monoclonal antibodies, possessing analytical chemistry properties. Dimethyloctylazaniumylpropane-1-sulfonate is a zwitterion that can form complexes with fatty acids that have acidic or basic properties.
