Descripción:3,4-Dihydroxybenzophenone is a demethylation agent used in the synthesis of 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid. It has been shown to be cytotoxic and anticancerous in vitro, with a selectivity for cancer cells. 3,4-Dihydroxybenzophenone is also considered to be neuroprotective against oxidative DNA damage and may be useful in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells through a mechanism that involves modification of dna.
