2,7-Dibromo-9H-fluoren-9-one is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H4Br2O. It has a molecular weight of 206.12 g/mol and a molecular formula of CHBrO2. The substance can be synthesized by reacting hydrochloric acid with 2,7-dibromo-9H-fluorene. This reaction produces the product in quantitative yield. Studies have been conducted on the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) using this substance as a model system and have shown that it inhibits HIV proliferation in vitro at low concentrations.
