4-Dimethylaminopyridinium Bromide Perbromide is a synthetic compound that contains a phenolic hydroxyl group. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by interfering with DNA replication and transcription.
4-Dimethylaminopyridinium Bromide Perbromide is synthesized from paraformaldehyde and phenol. The synthesis starts with the formation of an intermediate pyridinium salt, then it reacts with bromine to form the desired product. The yield of this reaction can be increased by using paraformaldehyde as a catalyst, or by increasing the concentration of bromine. This synthetic compound has been shown to have anti-cancer properties through its ability to inhibit cell division in HL60 cells.
