1,3-Dicyclohexylimidazolium Tetrafluoroborate is a bioactive molecule that is synthesized using triethyl orthoformate and glyoxal. The synthesis of this compound requires the use of diammonium chloride, catalysis with hydrogenolysis, metal hydrides, hydrosilylation and chloride, paraformaldehyde or irradiation. This molecule has shown to be an effective catalyst for the hydrogenolysis of organic compounds. 1,3-Dicyclohexylimidazolium Tetrafluoroborate has been synthesized using unactivated materials and can be used in a variety of reactions including the chlorination of substituted phenols.
