Dibenzyl carbonate is an organic compound that is used as a catalyst in the synthesis of other organic compounds, such as pharmaceuticals. Dibenzyl carbonate can be synthesized from the reaction between hydrogen fluoride and sodium carbonate. It has been shown to be effective in the production of glycol esters by coupling with ethylene oxide and propylene oxide. Dibenzyl carbonate also reacts with amines to form metal amides. The kinetic and solid-state properties of dibenzyl carbonates have been studied by NMR spectroscopy, yielding information on their catalytic activity.
