Descripción:4,5-Dicyano-1,3-dithiol-2-one is a heterocyclic compound with the chemical formula CHNOS. It is used as a solvent in x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and as an intermediate in the synthesis of phosphite compounds. 4,5-Dicyano-1,3-dithiol-2-one also has a role in the synthesis of cyclopentadiene derivatives. The dilution of this compound with solvents such as water or ethanol results in a reduction of the solubility of this compound. 4,5-Dicyano-1,3-dithiol-2-one can be prepared by cross coupling reactions involving trimethylsilyl chloride and magnesium. This reaction produces magnesium chloride and 4,5 dicyano 1,3 dithiol 2 one as products. The photoelectron peaks for this compound are at -117 e
