Descripción:3,6-Dimethylphenanthrene is a colorless solid that is soluble in ethanol and aromatic hydrocarbons. It has an odor that resembles that of benzene. 3,6-Dimethylphenanthrene shows low solubility in water and is not volatile at room temperature. This compound can be identified by its infrared absorption spectrum and its nmr spectra. The major impurities are naphthalene and trifluoroacetic acid. 3,6-Dimethylphenanthrene has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth as well as the production of nitrous oxide from nitrite by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity in mice treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS).
