2,4-Difluorobenzyl bromide is a nonmetal compound that has been used as an antimicrobial agent in clinical settings. It inhibits the lipid biosynthesis of bacteria and can be used to treat inflammatory diseases. It is also used to treat hepatitis C because it inhibits the synthesis of triazolium and inhibits viral replication by inhibiting the activity of enzymes such as RNA polymerase. 2,4-Difluorobenzyl bromide has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and may be useful in treating congestive heart failure due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
