It can be obtained from the reaction of 2,4-difluoro-3-methoxybenzoyl chloride with 3,5-dimethoxyaniline. 3,5-Difluoro-4-methoxybenzoic acid has been shown to be useful as a building block in the synthesis of other compounds with potent antibiotic activity such as fluoroquinolones. This compound is also used to synthesize aminomethylcyclohexane and methylaminomethylcyclohexane, which are useful in the manufacture of pesticides.
