2,6-Difluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride is a chiral, nucleophilic, and chemical probe that can be used to introduce the 2,6-difluorobenzene sulfonamide functional group. This compound has been shown to inhibit the activity of protein tyrosine phosphatase and is insensitive to cyanamide. The molecular structure of this compound has been determined using X-ray crystallography. The molecule contains a bromo substituent on the central ring system and an F atom in position 4. It also contains two chlorides at positions 3 and 6. In addition, this compound is a monomer with anti-tumor activity against melanoma cells.
