2,5-Difluoronitrobenzene is an organic compound that belongs to the chemical class of nitro compounds. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor that is soluble in water and acetone. 2,5-Difluoronitrobenzene has been used as an intermediate for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and pesticides. It has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. 2,5-Difluoronitrobenzene has been shown to inhibit the transport of organic anions in intestinal cells (e.g., organic acids) by blocking the function of organic anion transporters (OATs). This inhibition leads to increased levels of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in animal models.
