Descripción

Dimethylmatairesinol is a cell-specific antimicrobial peptide that is active against human pathogens. It exhibits high resistance to transfer reactions and has significant cytotoxicity against human fibroblast cells. Dimethylmatairesinol induces lysis of bacteria by forming covalent bonds with the terminal residues of proteins in the bacterial cell membrane, such as carbonyl oxygens or terminal amino acids. This peptide also exhibits antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
