2',6-Dihydroxyflavone is a flavonoid that has been shown to have anticancer properties in animal experiments. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human cancer cells and the growth of tumors in mice. The structure of 2',6-dihydroxyflavone has been determined by analysis of its analogues, which are structurally related to other flavones. This compound binds to a specific G protein-coupled receptor subtype, which is involved in the regulation of cellular function. 2',6-Dihydroxyflavone also inhibits kinase activity, as seen in whole-cell patch clamp assays. These results suggest that this compound may be clinically useful for treating cancers by inhibiting tumor growth and proliferation.
