Reaction time has a significant effect on the yield of this reaction system. The optimal dosage of periodate for this reaction system is 0.5 mM for 2,4-diaminophenol and 0.1 mM for 2,4-diaminoanisole. This reaction system can also be carried out using lavendamycin or tosyl chloride instead of periodate.
