Descripción:3,5-Dinitroanisole is a molecule that has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo. It is a nitro compound that undergoes reduction with hydrogen peroxide and an electron donor to form 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid. This substance has been shown to have anticancer activity against human cancer cells by inhibiting the production of nucleic acids. 3,5-Dinitroanisole also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes and blocking the formation of proteins. 3,5-Dinitroanisole is also able to bind to DNA and cause strand breaks at sites that are sensitive to alkylations. The mechanism of this process is thought to be due to the ability of 3,5-dinitroanisole molecules to react with hydroxyl groups on DNA bases and release nitric oxide radicals.
