• Descripción: 2,4-Dihydroxycinnamic acid (2,4-DHCA) is a naturally occurring compound that is synthesized by the shikimate pathway. 2,4-DHCA has been shown to inhibit the growth of influenza virus in cell culture. 2,4-DHCA may provide protection from influenza in humans and animals by inhibiting the release of inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-1 from cells. This anti-inflammatory effect has been observed in animal models for various inflammatory diseases including arthritis and asthma.
