Diffraction is a technique that is used to measure the angles of the reflections from a crystal or other material. Single-crystal x-ray diffraction (SCXRD) is one form of diffraction that uses a single crystal to generate an image. Diffraction was first observed in 1807 by English scientist William Hyde Wollaston and French physicist Joseph von Fraunhofer.
