It has been shown to have a protective effect on fertility in rats with ovariectomized. 3,9-Di-O-methylcoumestrol has been shown to increase the number of oocytes and decrease the number of follicles in rats treated with proton radiation. This compound also has an effect on UV absorption and can be used as an indicator for UV exposure. In addition, 3,9-Di-O-methylcoumestrol has been found to have different effects on ecotypes and dianions.
