Descripción:2,5-Dimethylphenylmethyl carbinol is a reagent that is used in the synthesis of aromatic hydrocarbons and alkenylated products. It reacts with an electron-deficient alkyl compound to form an alkenylated product. 2,5-Dimethylphenylmethyl carbinol is highly selective for electron-deficient alkyl compounds. The reaction rate of 2,5-dimethylphenylmethyl carbinol can be increased by increasing the temperature or adding a base catalyst, such as sodium methoxide or potassium tert-butoxide.
