Descripción:4,4'-Dimethylbenzoin is a compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and act as an antibacterial agent. It is synthesized by the copolymerization of formaldehyde and 4,4'-dimethoxybenzoyl chloride in the presence of sodium chloride. The synthesis is catalyzed by potassium methoxide. 4,4'-Dimethylbenzoin can be used as a starting material for the synthesis of other organic compounds. It can also be used as a solvent in chromatographic methods.
