This compound can also be used as a substrate or product in catalytic domains. 2,5-Dimethylresorcinol is found in the form of usnic acid and orsellinic acid. The use of this compound as a catalyst for oxidation reactions has been studied extensively. It has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor for catalytic domains with a range of different metal ions.
