• Descripción: 1,2-Dihydroxy-3-methoxybenzene is a catechol that is used as a sample preparation agent in the analysis of genotoxic activity. It is also used to evaluate the viral life cycle and for studies on the regiospecificity of hydroxylation reactions. 1,2-Dihydroxy-3-methoxybenzene has been shown to inhibit the activity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) by interfering with hydrogen bonding interactions. This may be due to its ability to act as an inhibitor of DNA polymerase. The carcinogenic potential of 1,2-dihydroxy-3-methoxybenzene has not been determined.
