3,5-Diisopropyl-4-hydroxybenzoic acid is a white, crystalline compound that can be found as a dimer. It is soluble in solvents such as chloroform and ethers but insoluble in water. 3,5-Diisopropyl-4-hydroxybenzoic acid is used in the production of polyesters, polymers, and resins. This compound has been used to produce propofol and decarboxylating monomers for organic solvents. 3,5-Diisopropyl-4-hydroxybenzoic acid reacts with chloride ion at high temperatures to form chlorine gas and hydrogen chloride. The melting point of this compound is 169 degrees Celsius.
