• Descripción: 2,5-Dichlorophenol is a chlorinated phenol that has been used as an industrial chemical for many years. It has been shown in animal and human studies to cause kidney damage, especially in women. Chronic exposure to 2,5-dichlorophenol can lead to chronic kidney disease. The mechanism of this toxicity is not well understood but may be due to its ability to react with diazonium salt and form reactive intermediates that are more toxic than the starting material. 2,5-Dichlorophenol also reacts with acylating agents such as triclosan in the body and forms a mixture of isomeric products. This reaction occurs at high pH levels, which may be present in the human bladder or urine samples. The glucuronide conjugate of 2,5-dichlorophenol is excreted in the urine and can be measured using laser ablation techniques or by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry
