Diethyl Phthalimidomalonate is a disinfectant that is used in the food industry. It is an ester compound that has a carboxylic acid and hydroxide functional group. Diethyl Phthalimidomalonate has been shown to have good biocidal properties against gram-positive bacteria and fungi, as well as being effective for the prevention of corrosion of metals. This compound can be synthesized by reacting ethyl phthalimidate with diethylene glycol.
