This compound crystallizes with mononuclear coordination geometry and has a molecular weight of 181.87 g/mol. Size-exclusion chromatography shows that this compound exists as a dimer with each molecule having a molecular weight of 93.94 g/mol. 4,5-Diphenyl-2-oxazolethiol has been shown to be luminescent with an emission maximum at 500 nm in solution or on the surface of glass slides.
