It inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to the intracellular receptor for interleukin-1 (IL-1), which is located on the surface of all cells. This interaction prevents IL-1 from binding to its receptor and activating an inflammatory response. 2,2-Difluoroacetamide also binds to glucosylceramide, which is found in many human cells and is involved in inflammation responses. The molecule can be used as a substitute for 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol when studying reactions with deuterium isotopes because it has a similar chemical structure and properties. In addition, 2,2-difluoroacetamide has been shown to be effective against tumor treatment in mice inoculated with Covid 19 pandemic H5N1 influenza virus.
